Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 WM64

can anyone help please, i have a hotpoint aquarius 1200 wm64 washing machine, i put it on to wash but the drum turns slowly as if the machine fines it hard to turn the drum with a full load, but if i put it on to spin it seems to spin perfectly ok with no problem spinning the drum, does anyone know what could be wrong.
