it could be a number of things. firstly, if the water is heating but not advancing then it's likely to be the stat. you can check it out by selecting a different temperature wash. if that works the the stat controlling the wash which didn't, is your fault. if neither temp wash is working and the water is heating then it could be a broken wire at the base of the door.
if the water isn't heating then it could be your element itself, the thermal cut-out may have tripped, or it could be that the metering tank is not measuring the water level correctly.
these causes are not the only ones, as always you can't beat seeing the thing in the flesh.
if it does turn out to be your thermostat (s) they are located on the front of the wash tub with a screw fit. the terminals on them are different for each temp so you can't mix them up.
