Hotpoint Aquarius WML560 Washer fault

Having trouble with our washing machine and would like some help if its a common fault or easily repairable before I rush out and get a new one

It finished quick wash cycle, put it onto spin, it started spinning then stopped midway through. The 'spin' light is still lit green and the door lock light still lit red, start/stop button works but only pauses program ('spin' flashes amber), wont cancel it completely. Holding power button turns it off but door lock light stays on, and turn it back on it is still in spin cycle, but not actually doing anything.

Left it unplugged overnight and tried this morning, same problem. Have opened the top and manually unlock the door. I plugged it back in with door open and it let me restart the spin cycle but stopped after about 5 mins again, same as last night. I am going to try other programs see what results I get.

Does it have load monitor, if overloaded or unbalanced it will rotate then detect imbalance and stop , try taking some of the load out .

Hi MikeB1986. As foxhole has suggested the problem could be because of a load imbalance being detected. It sounds similar to your issues however it got an added bogey that your system seems to lock up instead of dealing with the error gracefully.

re-adjust the load as suggested and see if it works, if not then try a spin with no load and see if that works. If either of these work then it was just an bad load.

If you get no joy then check the pressure sensor next. They can go faulty but far more common the pipe will be blocked. What happens here is the machine doesn't get the signal that water is draining so after a bit of a spin for example for load distribution etc it will stop. This might explain the odd behavior regards the lights and rest of the program not triggering gracefullly.
