Hotpoint Aquarius WT 540 - rinse/spin prob - flashing lights

My machine washes and drains fine but before it rinses and spins it stops and the *wash enhance* and *rinse and hold* lights flash slowly and the on/off light flashes quickly.

I have managed to overcome this by removing 2/3 of the load and using the rinse/spin cycle only, time consuming and not ideal! However, today I can't even do that.

I haven't a clue about washing machines, I cant find my owners manual and would be grateful for any help!
