hotpoint ff187e - not staying cool

Freezer defrosted, fridge warm, reset and freezer cold

Seems to run OK

Taken back off inside fridge expecting ice but none - small flap at top does not seem to move even if door left open for a while

Any clues? = is the flap the problem?

No ice in the back of the freezer compartment, no large pool of water if there had been and it had melted.

Won't seem to run unless we constantly re-set it.

Can understand why the Fridge is warm (see above) but can't understand why the freezer defrosted itself

Any ideas?
