My hotpoit toploader wash m/c (model 1050?, xxxxelectronic - sorry, can't remember) will suddenly not spin. All else seem to function absolutely fine. I have replaced clutch, although not expecting this to resolve, since the fault occurred suddenly, but it was worn anyway.
The only clue on offer is that my wife left it on half load setting with a full load, and heard a "clunk". This may be significant, or a complete red herring.
What other mechanical devices/failures can prevent it from spinning. Is there any low level switch which must be satisfied before it can start to spin, and if so, how empty must it be?
Only other suggestion I have had from the trade is some small item under the drum and wrapped around the shaft. How would this stop it spinning and leave everything else perfectly happy?
