After several bits replaced over the years (door seal, pump, brushes) I have a new problem.
The motor is very underpowered with anything in the drum. With nothing in there it seems to work fine.
In attempting to spin it buzzes lightly and the drum moves a few degrees. It then advances and tries to go the other way. After a few of these the motor speed is increased and washes normally, but whenever a slow speed is needed it is very weak. Fast spin and pump out is fine. Tumbledry is fine.
It's a Bosch motor and has had two sets of brushes so far. I did have a faulty doorswitch and I've replaced that, and a new water heater element as that has just packed up, but the slow running is still a problem.
I put in a spare control board I had, and makes no difference.
Am I right in thinking it is a shorted field coil - so new motor time ?
Thank you for your time - and will let you all know the outcome.
