Hotpoint wd62 washer/dryer motor stopped turning, fitted new brushes as old ones were well worn but this does not rectify problem. Machine fills and programmer clicks. Could there be a fault with the pressure valve which only clicks once when I blow into it.
You can disregard the pressure switch if your machine fills to the correct level and stops. The purpose of the pressure switch is to tell the programmer (a) the drum is empty so it is ok to swich the water inlet valves on and (b) there is the correct amount of water now in the drum which then tells the programmer to switch off the water inlet valves. So if at the beginning of your wash cycle the drum fills with water (usually about one third) then stops the pressure switch has done its job
ps it is normal to hear one click blowing into the tube.
