When i plug hotpoint wd640 into mains the RCD on my consumer unit trips out. I would like some info on how i go about finding the faulty component in tne machine
Do you have a multimeter & the knowledge of how to use it? If it happens as soon as you switch on at the socket visually check in the area where the cable enters the machine, is there any burnt wires or components (capacitor, pcb etc.)?
I have now got the machine to power up but if i ask it to start any cycle it trips my rcd out, this seems to be the same time the door latch locks, could this be faulty and how do i check it?
no ,the door lock makes the circuit you have a bad earth fault on the mc only way is to test mc with a meter or unplug various conponents ie heater /top bottom /motor /mains input and try .
I have disconnected the plug from them motor, heating element(tub), element (dryer) and it still trips with the door closed. If the door is open the power remains on but as soon as i close the door it trips again. What do i do next?
