washer in outbuilding engineer says damp effecting electrics? and needs to replace circuitboard is this a common fault as machine only 5 months old and this second board to be replaced, i thought damp would be expected around a washer
i would agree with engineer. you get damp (well soaked actually) IN the drum. but not in the cabinet.
as its in an outhouse you should consider that there will be a lot of tempreture fluctuations, if it gets very cold water will condense on almost anything, ie pcb (circuit board)
also lack of ventilation / air flow will not help. you could also consider a tubular heater for the outhouse.
Modern computerised machines have quite sensitive circuitry and It does not take much to cause a problem. You could try putting packs of silica gel near the circuit board, held on with cable ties, but they would need to be renewed or dried out periodically. If the board fails in the middle of summer you will know it's just an unreliable model.
many thank's for replys yeh guess modern technology although better not quite as robust, old machine had no problems but did'nt have circuit boards. once again many thank's pas
