Hotpoint wf340 washing smells burnt ????

Our hotpoint wf340 has just finished its cycle but the washing stinks of like a burnt metallic Oder I could smell it as soon as I opened the door
There dosent seem to be play in the bearing etc
Any help would be great

Just to add to this i went for a glass of water and it stank of tcp and when it was in my mouth it tasted metalic like !! Strange anyone ??

Check your water tank. Poss contaminated.

I don't have a water tank as I'm on a combi anyway the washing machine is off the cold mains feed!!
