Takes water and powder but will not continue with cycle, bought new brushes and fitted still same problem

One possibility is that the thermal overload cutout inside the motor has failed. This sometimes happens when the brushes wear out and there is sparking due to the poor brush contact. This cutout is connected in series with one of the brushes so can be checked by testing continuity between the brush wires and the motor multi plug.
