We just moved into our first home and bought a second hand hotpoint WMA31 for 40quid of a friend in work its just been in their garage unused for the last 6 months since they moved into a new house which came with fitted appliances.
Just put our first wash in it seemed to work ok until it got to the spin cycle where it made a grinding noise and then just stopped working the cloths where still soaking wet, tried to but it on a spin cycle, it started spinning whilst making the same noise then the program finished 30 seconds latter.
Does this sound like a Bearing? I took off the pump filter on the bottom and removed all debree incase there was something down there but it does sound like its come from the back of the drum.
How easy are they to fit? is it doable by a novice and how much do the parts usually cost? if I got someone in to fix it how much do they usually charge - where very new at all this home owning etc...
