Hotpoint WMT05 noisy and smelling

My washing machine has just started to make excessive knocking noise with a lot of movement when spinning and it also has a burning/acrid type of smell when it's finished. Any ideas? It's approx. 6-7 years old.

is there play in the inner drum, sounds like bearings gone.

Thanks. Yes there is quite a bit of play. Is that repairable and cheap or shall i just get a new one?

scrap it , not worth it on a old mc .total strip down to replace the bearings .
