Hotpoint WT740P stopping mid cycle.

My Hotpoint WT740P stops at the beginning of the spin cycle. However you can set it for a "fast spin" cycle with a small load and it will work ok. It will also carry out a "slow rinse and spin" cycle with no clothes in the drum. Any ideas, something to do with balancing maybe? If so what needs to be replaced to allow the drum to balance. Thanks in anticipation.

Always worth checking the motor brushes havn't worn down to nothing. Easy things first!

This model has an induction motor and has no brushes
