Hotpoint WT960G Washing Machine Squeak

Hey guys,

Machine just had new bearings and shocks fitted and it now makes this squeaking noise as it goes into and out of a spin. (The engineer replaced the shocks thinking this was what was causing the squeak.) It seems to be intermittent with no consistency to it. I believed it to a balancing issue and I've spent countless hours adjusting the feet and it doesn't seem to help. The machine is solid on the ground but it appears to shake a bit (not feet leaving the floor) when the squeaking can be heard. Here's a we video of what I mean regarding the noise:

In case you are wondering why I don't just contact the repairer again to have him fix it...well it's a long story that wouldn't help right now.

Total guesses but 1 as you say balance issue causing drum to rub on something, or 2 something to do with the suspension springs, a bit of WD40 around them might help.

I've narrowed it down to where the noise is coming from now...

It's coming from the back of the drum and I can only make it happen if the machine is running. If I power it off and shake the brick it doesn't occur.

Is there a shaft that runs from the back of the drum that turns it?

There will be a drive belt of some kind from a pulley on the motor to a pulley on the centre back of the drum, just like a car fan belt. Looks like that drive train is binding on something.

Just a we update on my issue: I've managed to resolve the issue myself.

The squeak was being caused by the belt rubbing against the back panel intermittently. This was due to the belt being installed on the motor cog grooves too far rearward which caused it to rub against the back panel. Loosening the belt and reinstalling it forward a few groves (towards front of the machine) solved the problem. But go too far forward and the belt then rubs against the drum, so you have to find the sweetspot. For me it was 3 grooves in from the furtherest rearward groove.
