Good night,

I decided to take down my lath and plaster ceiling in my hallway.

Quick question: From my untrained eye, this appears to be a single-skinned brick.
What would be the advantage of making it doubleskinned? Would there be any disadvantage?

Thanks!
T

It’s not likely to be a single skin, the outer skin is probably further down below the wall plate (the timber the rafters are bearing onto), so the rafters clear it

Aha! Thank you so much! This makes a lot of sense.

If it were your home, would you put a bit of render over the bricks you see in the picture to strengthen them (they seem to need repointing) while you have access to the area?

Would you put rockwool insulation there as well?

Thanks,
T

No point rendering anything, but looking at the pic again not totally clear where the wall plate is, can you get some closer pics?

Yes, I will try and get some. In the meantime, here is another one.
