Hello,
I'm looking at buying a house that has (white) render including external insulation on all its walls. If I look back on street view, 15 years ago it looked like only a half render & half cladding of some kind (see pics below)
vs. the current full render:
I'm just wondering what to look out for here having never owned a rendered house - is there any chance the render could be hiding structural problems for example? It looks in fair condition to the eye, but I'm worried if I have to do a full re-render in a few years that could be a huge cost? Is that just something you have to accept buying a house that's rendered?
Also how can I tell if this has a DPC? It's quite an old house. There is a gap at the bottom all the way around, would that suggest DPC?
Would it put many people off buying such a property when you could just look for simple exposed brick for less problems or do you just ignore it and get on with life?
Thanks for any advice!
