This is for a double garage made of breezeblock. There may be an universal beam above the car door, or there may be a lintel, depends on how the calculations work out, as above the lintel will be one end of another beam which holds the roof.
The beam is much narrower than the 215mm wide blocks that are below and above it. From what I remember, the beam sits on a pad stone and above it is a welded on bar which gives the beam width to hold the wider blocks. Are there other ways to do this though?
What is then usually used to cover the beam, to fill in the 56mm wide gap that remains in front of the beam? I was thinking to put in timber?
