get a proper tile drill bit or if its a small hole, set drill to percussion, not hammer on a low speed not too much pressure.support the tile fully on a soft firm surface, using a masonary bit
mark on the tiles where you need to drill, and holding drill with a masonary bit in it rotate the drill bit by hand this should then start to gently cut through the glaze of the tile, once you can see the mark on the tile, gently press the button on the drill, taking it easy, jobs a gooden.
if you are pre drilling the tiles before tiling then
find a bit of scrap mdf or ply, lay the tile flat on it on a level surface (floor etc.) drill with a 4 or 5mm masonry bit with a drill set to drill only
a bit of tape helps to start off the hole and stops the drill bit skating
then increase the drill bit size by 3 mm each time until you get the right size hole (you may break a couple until you get confident of how much pressure you can apply!!)
