Having a bit of a nightmare our bathroom in the new part of our house, has an extractor fan on the wall but the ceiling paint keeps peeling due to moisture above the shower cubicle.

Sounds like an easy fix installing an extractor fan above the shower, however unfortunately there is no access into the new loft space! So a simple job of fitting a fan would require the installation of a loft hatch and ladders just to get around to the job of installing a fan!

Any ideas of a way to get around this without spending ££££££s

Thanks in advance

Is there enough air getting into the room under the door.?

Do not open the window

How is the room heated?

Hi thanks for the reply, Centeral heating why not open the window?

Assuming there's a gap under the door, you can try not opening the window with the extractor on, the idea being that air will be extracted from the room only, rather than the extractor also trying to extract fresh air that enters via the window .....

Alternatively you could try either a more powerful extractor fan, or you might have to suck it up and fit a new suitable extractor above your shower, is the cubicle one of these with walls all around and just one side glass? Any pics or a layout of what you have now?

Show us some pics of the roof shape from outside.

Maybe a loft hatch would be a good move.

With fan close to open windows its just recycling a tiny amount of air by window. Keep window shut .

I'm playing the devil's advocate here, but if you and your loved ones are into long, spa-like bathing sessions, I'm afraid you're fighting a losing battle v condensation, especially during winter months.
If you've got heat in there, and some form of ventilation, you should be okay... as long as you have a quick shower or bath and then get the hell out! ;)

Just a thought! Do you have any access to the void via a soffit on your window wall?
