Hi there,

I've just moved into a new flat and I can't understand how to arm the burglar alarm. The display currently reads 'Unset' and my letting agent has provided me with two codes - one which is a digit and a letter, and the other which is four digits.
I assumed that the former would arm the alarm and the latter would disarm it but neither seem to do anything.
The agent are worse than useless and have taken over a week so far to come back to me, and in the meantime my insurance is invalid because the burglar alarm isn't working!

Can anyone in the know help me?

Thanks in advance,

Sarah

Inform your Letting Agent that you want a refund for part of your rent in respect of a non working alarm system.

Also tell them that you hold them responsible if anything should happen as it is a requirement of your insurance.

ALSO TELL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY, big problems if you don't and something happens.

Good luck

Can you see a make / brand anywhere on the alarm?

If not, could you post a photo of the keypad?

Thanks for your replies.

I've changed my insurance for now - the letting agent were supposed to ring me back an hour ago after promising faithfully. They are utterly hopeless.

There is no brand on the keypad as I had a look earlier to see if there was a company manual I could download, no such luck. I will take a photo tonight and post first thing (no internet access at home yet!).
