How do I form concrete foundation for garage please?

Hi,

Want to make foundation for 18' x 12' garage. Can anybody point me in the right direction please? I have just been given a quote for £1800 which I cant afford.

How much do you think I would need in materials and any hire eqpt. Is it best for me to hire a concrete mixer and do it myself, or get a ready made batch supplied?

The minimum depth of concrete for a garage floor should be 100mm / 4" so you will need approx 2 cubic metres of concrete based on your dimensions.

Not sure what the going rate for readymix is. You'll also need a hardcore subbase.

Thanks for your quick reply and links. Had a quick look and it looks like it will cost about £800 for materials and then a bit for hiring of tools. For some reason I trhought it would only csot me about £400 to get someone in to do it for me, now I know that wont even pay for materials! Damn!, Lol!
