if its for magnets its doomed to failure as magnets need to "float" as wood moves twists and warps
you need at least 5mm off movement

@big-all damn and double damn. LOL.
this is what it was for.
what's wrong with lining up say 10 of them on one plank and another 10 on another plank?

thks

you may be ok with planed timber stored and used indoors but timber constantly changing moisture levels will move all over the place

i was actually planning to glue + the magnets, as long as they were lining up 90% would be OK.

feasible?

as i said on the other thread you will get "slide " forces pushing them off line
if the magnets don't touch you loose most off the "attraction"
you have about a 10% chance that it will work fully without failing a perhaps 40% chance that more than half the magnets will line up with enough"attraction" to be useful
you need some float and adjustment to have any chance off it working and keep it working
something along these lines

the magnets will definitely touch :)
not be concealed. that's why i want to drill 2mm down - planning to get 2mm coin magnets

EDIT: those magnets look awesome - having the hole in the middle is great - I can crew in?

but then i have the problem of making a square hole.
(i suppose i could make round hole and put square in?)

as the wood moves they will go out off line so without adjustment they will fail
