Hello I live in the UK. There was a cut branch on my tree. The tree is about 8m tall and the branch in question about 20 cm in diameter.
I went away for about 10 days in the summer. When I returned I saw that insects had started to eat this cut branch and even hollowed it out. I cut about 80 cm off so they get no further. I found ear wigs and wood lice burrowed inside and the wasps were visiting it too. I have still seen wasps 'sniffing' about the fresh cut. How should I treat this so the problem does not happen again?
I realised the problem when I returned because I was surprised to find 'saw dust' on the bush below.
I have old timber floorboards not to mention timber joists, so what should I be doing?
Thanks,
Hajji
