I need to redirect this pipe, which is coming from a bathroom basin, so that it runs down the right hand side of this window, as per the blue arrow in the attached pic. I've also include a closeup. The difficult thing is that the pipe is curved as it's coming out of the wall, so I can't just cut it off and attach new pipework.

Thanks. I don’t need to connect to asbestos waste though. I will keep them separate.

But the lead pipe can’t be adjusted at all? I was hoping I would be able to twist it to the new direction if I took out the mortar?

Ah fair enough. That job is beyond me then. Do you know roughly how much it should cost to get that pipe replaced and the direction changed? Just so I know what's a good price when I get some quotes.

OP,

Why not keep the basin waste inside the bathroom, & why not drop it in plastic, & take it over to tie in with the WC connection to the soil pipe - see McAlpine WC-BP1 and similar?
Or, Drop the basin waste and tie it in with the bath waste?

To disconnect the lead waste from the basin trap, & then remove the outside mortar & wriggle the lead pipe out should be well doable for you?
But what's the purpose of swinging the waste over - is there a gully waiting below?

Playing Devils advocate but that waste may be Copper. Depends on how its joined internally as to whether you'll be able to move it or not, and bear in mind, if you do, it'll probably start leaking...

Best bet is to replace in plastic, but depending on what your plan is with it, you may well exceed the maximum permissible length of branch pipes as per Part H of the Building regs. What exactly are you trying to achieve, if we know that, then may be better placed to advise.

As per Exedon, the stack is Asbestos Cement, leave well alone unless your prepared to replace it.

That’s potentially a great idea!

This is what the bathroom itself looks like from the inside. The white plastic waste pipe coming from the sink (see pic 1) looks easy enough to disconnect. I guess I'd just need to unscrew the bit going out to the lead pipe, get rid of that, and then go down at a 90 degree angle into the cavity where the hot/cold water supplies are, and then right inside the bath (see pic 2), and connect up with the bath waste pipe somehow? The exterior bit of that pipe should be easy enough to change the direction of.

All of this is to make space for a lean-to pergola. I have a 5m piece of wood that I need to fix to the wall that the pergola struts will rest on. I'm going to send the sink/bath waste down the right side of the window, and then back under the window to the drain (see pic 3).

Just got a first quote for this job, including removal of the asbestos waste stack (although NOT disposing of it, just bagging it). £1100

Does that sound about right, or high?
