I'm new to this site as I am building an extension and reconfiguring the house and finding it quite stressful!
I want to put a fire rated internal window in the stud partition wall separating new kitchen from hallway. Do I just ask my builders to leave a timber frame surrounding a hole in the wall roughly the size of the door for glazier to deal with. The glazier spoke about using special beading and tape for fire resistance. I wasn't sure if this was ok or whether we had to get a specially made window and special frame from somewhere.
Has anyone done this before. Building inspectors seem to say different things depending on we are speaking to. It is very frustrating!
MANY THANKS!
