How fit radiator valve extensions?

I guess they go between the valve and radiator but I can't see how

take the nut/olive off the end.
screw the threaded part into the rad.
use nut/olive on the other end to fit onto rad valve.

yes the nut/olive go the the other end when fitted.
the pic don't do it many favours with the nut on the thread.
