How long before final concrete finishing??

Hi all,

Finally poured the concrete in my dining room floor today

Its 100mm thick with mesh in and I have got within an approx 5mm tolerance I reckon, then given it a wood float finish

How long before I can walk on it and go over it with a steel trowel to finish it off?

You're better not walking the wet concrete,,,, use a plank and kneel on that to trowel it up. We used to rig up strips of timber nailed onto the walls, to support the battens and keep them clear of the floor, so we could trowel it up. This was done in advance.

use a bit of polysterene insulation with a board on it but be careful if there is surface water as it slide from under you in true slapstick banana skin style.
