Hi all,

I've just had a go at skimming the ceiling and walls in a room. The result is OK, but not great. I reckon if I fill and sand a few bits, then use thick lining paper it will look fine. My question is, how long do I need to wait before wallpapering? I have googled this and have seen responses that 6 months+ are required before papering over plaster. Surely I don't need to leave it this long in my case? It's just a skim coat on plasterboard.

Thanks.

6 months!!

only until it's COMPLETELY dry, which in your case should be around 3 days but can vary depending on conditions etc, as long as it's all gone pink.

seems like that post is talking about new builds, they will take many months to settle and all sorts of movement will occur in that period, if you were to paper a wall in a newly built house it's likely that you would end up with twisted/peeled/pulled/teared paper as the structure moved about
