How long is to long for a simple repair

Hi I bought a second hand car 2014 plate from a dealer . A week later oil light flashed up so went to but oil in but the cap was in two pieces top came off bung inside . So I took it back to said dealer as I couldn't get it out to put oil in he said leave it with him . So now 3 days later I still havnt got car back I've just rang and he said oh I have no machanic today it's fixed but we need to cold start it before returning it .‍ and to call in the morning . Am I being unreasonable or is this taking the micky ???

The oil light coming on at all, is potentially very serious. Unless the pressure switch has failed, it is probably too late.

Is there a return clause that has a specific number of days?
Asking incase he is delaying so you cannot ask for a refund.

I think you have 30 days from purchase to reject it. Make sure he doesn’t drag you past that date.

It shouldn't.

But it sounds like the garage want to test it from cold and make sure there are no further problems.

They may be dragging their feet, they may be being really good, it's a job to tell from what we know.

No mechanic? What?
Testing for a cold start after replacing the oil cap ? Why?
Did the 'dealer ' not spot it prior to sale? No because he didn't lift the bonnet?
The oil light coming on? Didn't check the oil level?

That's what I thought even driving it home the tyre pressure light was on one trye was 17 when ment to be 35 . He said oh could be the sensor... err no the tyre was flat it's on again today . But I cant be bothered with his excuses so I'll get it replaced . I just feel a bit worried 4.5 k for a car isn't pocket money to me . What if something is major wrong . Only got 3 months warranty
