Hi

I was just wondering how long it should take to change a pcb plate in a vokera? its just ive been messed around since yesterday and call me paranoid but i think the guy is havin an absolute laugh.

He ordered the pcb plate yest and picked it up this morning...He was here for 40 mins this mornin before he realised he had the wrong pcb plate.... see why im worried??!

anyways, jus a rough estimate would be grand, my dad reckons he should take about 15 mins (but then hes not a plumber), i jus dont want to pay for 2 hours work if all he's doing is messing around

thanks

also, is it normal that water should now be pouring out of my overflow and into my downstairs neighbours house?

Well, for starters, the time taken to attempt to fit the wrong bit should be taken off, as should be the time to get the right bit. Why do you think it's going to be a grand, is that what you were quoted?

Whoops sorry, misread !!

Nay :Lad, T`would be grand.not a grand...............Had ours done for a potterton prima and was £160.00

no sorry i meant a rough estimate would be great (as i helpful) not as in £1000! my fault for not bein clear enough. He's now been here nearly an hour with the right bit but he seems to be arsing around

Any particular overflow ? Toilet ? Boiler ?
For boiler, maybe the drain tap has not be properly shut off in the boiler.
I assume the boiler is not on at the moment,

Eddie , I think Claret said it would be grand to have an estimate not that the estimate was a grand.

eh noiler overflow i think. it seems to have stopped now.

Still workin on this bloody plate tho. is it really that difficult to whip out a circuit board and put a new one in or am i missing some part of the process that takes an hour?

Now the overflow has started again

now he has the front combustion chamber cover off...

please, someone tell me if what he is doing is right or if i should march up and tell him to get the finger out....!

thats near an hour and 10mins to fit the pcb plate. that was all he had to do

Clare

What's a 'PCB plate'???
If it's a 'PCB (Printed Circuit Board') it will fit outside the boiler's firewall so the cover should not need to come off.

But it might be a 'something-else' plate.....

Its all ok :D he's gone and i've only paid an hour labour and for one of the parts (because he fitted the other one without asking me)... I think i must be scarier than i realised!

Hope you all have a grand (great! ;) ) day

give him a chance ,you sound like the customer in my nightmares.
we are not all crooks you know
it can be difficult to fix modern boilers.
i do not dash out of the door after throwing a pcb into a boiler but observe the boiler running to check it.
yesterday i fitted a pcb and was there for 3 hours as the boiler was working but not at full power .turned out that the manufacturer had set the pcb up incorrectly. admittedly the customer was paying a fixed fee but you would have scared me out the door!

well done
