I have painted the upstairs walls, it was a light green colour and I've painted over (with 2 coats) using Dulux trade Natural Calico (which is a sort of off-white). I'm not sure if I can still see the green very slightly coming through, I thought 2 coats of trade would definately get rid of pretty much anything. Is it normal to paint a third? will a third definately get rid of it?

Also, I rubbed the white paintwork down, painted one coat satinwood, it looks okay. Do I really need to apply another coat? Will a second coat vastly improve the finish, or make it much tougher. Is it really worth the effort if it looks okay as it is?

Many thanks.

The natural calico is a nice colour but quite light. It takes as much as it takes really and a third coat will help. Make sure that this coat is not thinned in anyway.

A second coat of satinwood will always look better than just one and will go on easier, it will make it more solid and will give a bit more protection.

I get better coverage by diluting emulsion a little. No roller stipple or brush marks either.
