I currently have a patio door measuring 8’x 8’ (Approx) which has been in place for some 30 years. It was an Everest Aluminium framed installation (one fixed one sliding unit) with a small glass gap. It is still in good condition.
Given the ever increasing energy costs I am conscious of the current heat loss via this large area of glass.
My question is how much, if any, savings can be achieved by installing a UPVC unit. This would comprise a standard size door (part glass part infill panel) with the remaining area a combination of glass and infill panels, on the lower sections.
I realise the cost of any replacement may take many years to recover; however, I am interest in the short term energy saving together with any immediate comfort benefits.
Thanks
Benny.
