Hi, Anyone know how much soil I would need to order for a garden 3.5x5m?

I have just broken up all the concrete that was there (i will be leaving it there) and was thinking that 10cm of soil on top would be ok?

Err, Just grass seed I was planning on. Nothing fancy happening just some room for the kids to play on.

thats the minimum for a decent lawn

so the maths is 3.5 x 5 x .1 = 1.75m3 of topsoil, so allow 2m3

I don't like the idea of leaving the concrete there.

Some of it will rise up and destroy your mower

It will be horrible when someone tries to remodel the garden and put in some shrub or flowerbeds.

It will be a lot more work to take it out in future, after you've buried it.

I was thinking of putting some landscape fabric down first, should stop the concrete coming up and the weeds. Seems the garden was on a slope, before i purchased the house and the previous owners leveled it. Trust me I dug down approx 4 feet in one place and never reached soil!

Forgive my maths but I assume I need to order this by the skipful or tonne. How much would I need in weight?

JohnD is right, after a year or two the concrete will provide problems as the soil will settle down. The kids will notice it one day....
I would not go less than 200 m/m, preferably 300 m/m over broken concrete.

sorry missed the bit about the concrete. get rid of it. it will also cause localised drainage problems and the turf will suffer
