I am roofing my workshop with these as they match our house:

They have two little holes at the top to screw into the battens. On our current roof from the 30s, they are not nailed down at all. Having said that, sometimes the wind blows the odd one off, and then it needs to be replaced.
On the workshop I was thinking to nail down the edges, and every 3rd row, or something like that. It seems to me that if they are all nailed down, it would be very difficult to do any maintenance.
What is normal practice for nailing down clay tiles?
