Just for curiosity really - I have a Thorn EMI Panda 55 oil boiler - as basic as it gets.
I'm wondering how old it could be? There's no real identification but a plate that says DOBETA approved plus a serial number.
The house was built in 1960, I've owned it since 1986.
Any comments, anyone?

John, you're looking late 70's early 80's. Thorn was merged into the Myson group mid 80's, and the first Velaires replaced it. Does it have a central waterway? If so, then its efficiency will be quite high for its age.

Thank you very much indeed for that :D
Yes, the boiler does have a central waterway, and a baffle set either side of it.
Being only 300mm wide, its present location means that it'll need to last for a good while yet!
Cheers
John :)
