How ripe are my Grapes ? They have turned red but are still smaller than a marble.

Are they packable?

My plot neighbour has some grapes in his greenhouse. Loads of 'em. I’m waiting to catch him over there before I can ask him for a sample. Might grow a vine in my greenhouse next year.

Your basically saying my mates got more grapes than you and
not answering my question.

This isn't the GD trumpet society.

You're basically showing off a bunch of grapes and asking "How ripe are my grapes" and expecting an answer from a picture. Pick one. Put it in your mouth. Chew it. If it tastes nice, they’re ripe. If it’s sour, spit it out and wait a bit longer. Sorted.

I have several vines on my back patio.
They look great but taste grim.

I’d rather get a pack from Tesco than eat mine

I thought with grapes you had to prune them back like mad (and then some) not only producing more bunches but the grapes on each bunch are fatter. As for if they're ripe just try one.

I grow grapes. Last year I had a fine crop.

This year, not so good.

IME they have a long period of "not ready, too sour"

A short period of "just right" in late September

And a long period of "too late, gone mushy"

Some people use the sour ones in a pie or crumble.

I recommend you sample a few, from different spots, every day until they seem ready, then pick, remove damage, wash and chill.

They keep well in the fridge but I try to give most away within a week.

If you leave them out, they will ripen a bit more.

Last year, picking day was 16 September

I have done thst and they are OK. I know we have some experts on here so I like to ask.
