How should last slates be secured in?

Just replaced the back gutter, had to remove 3 courses of tiles. When putting them back, is this the best way to secure them into place?

I made lead "clips" and gave the tiles a small blob of silicone.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

The right way to do it is to strip out a triangle of slates and rehole each slate to accept two nails and reslate with just the top slate of the triangle being strapped with either a copper tingle or a lead version like you have done. This avoids having lots of straps showing but it is not "wrong" the way you have done it and as it is behind a chimney will not be too visible either.
