Hi Everyone,
I would like to achieve part E sound insulation qualities on a 4 floor victorian town house, joists are 200mm thick.
A number of stud walls in between rooms, and in between floors.
I have been reading up on a few things, and got even more confused. I have come across resilient bars, which the plasterboard then goes on.
Does resilient bars work with stud walls ?
How about spot lights, will this compromise sound insulation efforts ?
Will adding 18mm ply/OSB 3 before adding plasterboard make any difference, I have read up that this will bulk up the massing of the walls which helps with stopping sound transfer, and thus help with sound insulation.
Any helpful information would be appreciated.
