We are considering making our lounge/kitchen open plan and to do this need to remove some wall sections.
The wall sections to be removed are supporting the beams for the first floor and I can see how we would support most of them using a lintel, but there are 2 beams which are more awkward.
Here is a floor plan
The wall sections that need removing are labelled A, B and C
The four beams resting on wall A could be supported by a lintel being installed between Wall 1 and Wall 2
The beam resting on wall 2 where section C is to be removed could equally be accommodated
by moving it back to sit on Wall 2.
It is the 2 beams sitting on the section of wall to be removed labelled B which I need to consider and would be interested in hearing any thoughts.
Here is a 3D showing the part of the current layout where the walls need to be removed.
Hopefully the supplied images give a sufficient idea of what needs doing so you guys might be able to comment on how you would approach the issue of the two 'floating beams' before getting in someone to give me a quote.
