How should I fit the cross braces on these joists please?
Should they be along the centre and staggered or over the header plate? I thought the header plate would allow me to screw across the joists and down on the header stud too.

Thanks in advance.

OP,
Why not google "joist hangers" and select clips for each flat roof joist - one at the ledger, & one at the wall plate.
There's no need for bracing - the ledger & the wall plate are tying the joists in.
A flat fascia board will tie-in the joist tails.

I opted not to use those clips and instead screwed the joists in at both ends. I have some spare wood and thought the braces will help strengthen the structure.

OP,
Using the clips will save your roof from uplift in a storm.
I’ve seen many house roofs with their joists nailed to the wall plate in the same way. Surely this is an acceptable method too?

@ree I thought I saw a post from you suggesting that I wasn’t appreciative of your suggestion. It’s not there any more.
Sorry if it came across that way. It’s not what I intended. In hindsight, I would use brackets but too far along now. I did put an extra screw on both ends. Thanks for your help.
