Have just moved house and I need to change some PIR's due to 2 being covered in and 1 not working. If I take the cover off and take the wires out, will the alarm go off? If so, how do I stop this from happening? The alarm is Omnicron 8000.
Thanks a lot for any help.

yes it should go off (internaly) when you open the detector. The only way to stop it from going off first is to enter engineers mode, for which you need the engineers code, but i will assume you dont have that.

open a detector, alarm goes off, enter your code

make a note of what wire goes where, cut the wires off very close to the terminals (1mm close)

remove old detector from wall

mark and drill new detector fixings (old ones will not align unless its same detector)

put old cable into new detector

fix new detector to wall

connect detector, ONE wire at a time (using old one as guide)

put cover on

clear tamper

job done

Thanks for that - I do however have the engineers code, does this change things?

yes, you can use that instead.(ignoire part about internal sounder activating)
