I want to change an existing eye level oven for a new one.
The existing single oven is fed from a cooker point shared with a hob. The hob is connected via 6mm cable directly, whilst the oven is supplied from the same cooker point via a 13A FCU with cable outlet below the oven. The oven is connected to the FCU with heat resistant flex. (Immersion heater type)
Here is the problem. The new double oven (Candy) has instructions which say that its maximum consumption is 3.1kw and that it should be connected in heat resistant cable having a minimum CSA of 1.5mm. No mention is made of any fuse rating.
Is it acceptable to connect a 3.1 kw appliance to the 13A FCU? If not, what's the best way? Bearing in mind with the various appliance supplied links fitted to the oven terminals, it does not look possible to get cable any bigger than the existing into the terminals.
