Hello all

I'd like to flush a few radiators without taking them off the wall and outside due to the weather.

I thought that maybe I could connect a garden hose supplying mains pressure water to one of the top couplings of the rad and flush through to the drain cock.

I guess you could call it a poorman's powerflush :)

What connectors would I need to successfully connect a Hozelock coupling to the rad?

Thanks in advance

For most radiators, these two items:

usually the 1/2 inch size.

However you really should NOT attempt such a thing - it is likely to result in vile black sludge being sprayed all over the room.

Remove and take it outside. If it's raining, all the better. The rain will help to wash away the mess which you will inevitably end up covered in.

Hozelock screw-on tap fittings fit onto standard rad valves. So could you get two of those, two hozelock female ends and two bits of hose - one from the tap, one to the outside world?

Hire a powerflush machine and do it properly yourself. I have my own so don't quote me on this but I'm sure I've seen £60 for the day somewhere.

Thanks for the tips folks.

I probably won't do this as it sounds too risky.

I'll wait until next summer to hire a powerflush machine.

In the meantime you could add sludge remover like X400 or X800.
