How to connect water butt to drain pipes

Hopefully you can see from the pic that the pipes from our gutters go directly into the soil pipe and then on into our sewer. Would it be possible just to extend one or both of the drain pipes into a water butt and then have the overflow going from a hose pipe into a nearby drain? This is the only way that I can think of as I don't think one of the drain pipe diverters will work here.

I don't think that a hosepipe would work very well since it's more than likely a lot of water comming of those roofs in even moderate rain..
you'd need an overflow of at least the same diameter pipe to get the water out as fast as it comes in..
