how to finish internal concrete wall

Hi
after a bit of advice please.

We are refurbishing a 1930's house, the lime plaster was in a pretty bad state and hacked off if really easily, we exposed the bricks ] my builder decided to concrete all the internal walls with sand and cement mix making walls that bit more solid

He is now considering plasterboarding on top to get a straight finish and not plastering /skimming layer on top of the concrete

is this a plausible option or would it be better to render and plaster/skim?

Of course it is a plausible option but why not go for a good solid skim coat finish. much better job in the long run.

if this is the only reason he wants to put board up, suggests to me that this is another builder that cant plaster, if i were you i would insist on float and set, and not be palmed off with the easier option

theres nothing wrong with a builder that cant plaster it dont mean that they are cr@p builders, its just that a decent builder would hold his hands up and say ill have to get someone in because i cant do that part of the job, rather than plump for second best because he cant do it and maybe try to save himself a few bob in the process
