Hello

Had a wall and door frame between our kitchen and conservatory removed.

The wall was a cavity wall, and did extend down about 2 feet below FFL until the builder filled it with rubble.

I need to get this opening ready for an aluminium door and window. It's approx 3m x 2.2m. but I'm unsure how to close off the cavity in the wall, and is the cavity in the floor ok to leave filled with rubble ?

Should I buy a cavity closer or just use thermalite offcuts from the skip ?

Should I remove the infill from the cavity in the floor (beneath the polystyrene in the photo)?

Thanks

Ps. Builder was cheap and did most of what I asked so I'm really not unhappy, just need to know what to do next. Thanks

Between a house and conservatory or extension?
Is the conservatory staying or coming out?

Cavity closers a good shout but you might want to ask the company supplying the door if they supply fixing straps, and get full specs of them to allow for the cill.

Worth getting more insulation in there while you can.

Probably best off reposting in 'windows and doors' tbh

Hi, thanks, got someone coming out this week and I presumed I needed it closed, but straps is a good call and I can ask them.

It looks like the conservatory base was built as an internal room, so we are thinking of keeping the slab and dwarf walls and building on top, so this opening/door will stay as an internal door/partition.

The dwarf wall foundations are 800mm, cavity with wall ties, brick outer which is tied into main bungalow walls, and breeze block internal, and the floor is insulated with 100mm celotex. 1990s. Seems like a bit of a bonus as we were thinking of making half of it a patio, as the Connie has seen better days and is basically a cat sanctuary and shoe storage. It's huge, so a bit of a waste of space, and leaking so we need to figure something out that doesn't cost £££.
