Use fat screws the right length and some CT1 adhesive just to give some extra grip, as chipboard isn't great, especially when it gets wet. CT1 under the bottom rim of the pan, and around it too if you use the white stuff.
Obviously a generic term was used the specific "Mastic" is pretty much a trade secret.
Anyone that thinks screwing into chipboard is going to give a high tensile strength joint, clearly doesnt understand the comparisons between the pull out force values between timber and chipboard.
Have any of you taken out the screws and been able to move a correctly "Mastic'd" wc pan ? no they dont budge, you have to break the seal before it can be moved.
Tighten the screws too hard and whats the result ? a cracked pan.
The screws just hold it till the "Mastic sets.
