I have a flat roof skylight that was covered in tarry bituminous gunk that is almost impossible to take off. Any advise on how I can remove it ? The skylight frame seems to be a coated metal. Any tool I use to take it off has this thick tarry goop all over it that is difficult to remove. Roof is 30 years old Pic attached.

I got the bulk of some similar stuff off a floor by mixing things like out of date plaster or anything dry and kiln dried sand into it which binds to it reducing the stickiness,

Proper white spirit may work, it certainly works with bitumen on old parquet.
Acetone also works but unsure about your skylight.
